Seems nobody at ATT can answer my question about the new "limited" data plans. Before June 7 of this year you would have to purchase the $45 BB Enterprise plan in order to activate your device on a BES. It was an option on their site when ordering a new BB.

Now when you go online to order a new BB you get only 3 options (2GB with or without tethering and 200MB).

There's no mention of an "enterprise" plan. Nor does it say it isn't.

Chatting with their web folks is just a waste of time. It seems calling is the only way...but even then it seems to take forever.

when you log into your account and look at the " Manage Features" quick link there are at least 2 Enterprise data packages listed under "Blackberry Bundles"

That's assuming the user already has a BB on ATT.

Here's what's going on. The iPhone users are dogging the AT&T network period. So are other data users, as AT&T has made it mandatory for all data capable phones to be hooked up to a data plan. Just about every phone on the market is data capable, so add that to the already dogged network and what do you get? A royal mess!! Just wait until the iPhone 4 comes out it will be even worse. To supplement the network AT&T is asking you the customer to stop by your local Macs Big House of Beef or Starbucks and jump on there WiFi network. Thus putting the network drag on the WiFi carrier. Just wait until the WiFi carrier figures this out, another fee coming or no WiFi at all. It costs bucks out the wazu to put up cell towers and not everyone wants them in the there back yard. AT&T and T-Mobile buy air time off each other as well as Verizon and Sprint to keep the towers down to a roar. NEXTEL is a separate animal and was to be killed off this year. Also we are seeing a huge migration over to pre paid vs post paid accounts which limits the carriers cash flow and unwillingness to upgrade it’s network capacity.

Does anybody read the trade rags? From the replies that would be a BIG NOT! AT&T has not been putting a whole lot of anything into it's network. Look at it's 3G foot print compared to Verizon. And yes it does cost a wad of cash to put up a tower. AT&T is encouraging it's users to use the WiFi portion of the phone vs it's own network to pull down data. If you have been reading, which you have not! McDonalds and Starbucks will automatically put you on the WiFi if your device is enabled. Before you had to register your phone before using it at these places. Sprint is for sale! T-Mobile's parent company was looking at the package. Another horrible decision. Sprint does use Verizon to roam on, read!! Also pre paid accounts are up big time vs post paid. Again this was in the U.SA. Today.
