Default computer not "recognising" blackberry or media card

Please Login to Remove!

Hi
I wonder if anyone has any ideas with my issue. When I connect my bold to my windows computer with desktop manager it is shown as connected. However when I look at "my computer" it is not there. I used to be able to just drag files to the blackberry "media card" on my 8820. What am I doing wrong.?

Many thanks

Robin

Have you pulled the battery on the BB?

Are you connected directly into the PC or through a hub. In these cases, I have found it best to plug the BB into a USB on the back of the PC.

Have you changed the settings on your media card?

Go to:
Options> media card.

settings:
Media support=ON
encryption mode = NONE
Mass Storage Mode Supprot = ON
Auto Enable Mass Storage Mode when connected = YES

Rob, try a battery pull reboot on the 9000, and reboot of the PC.

Then connect the USB to the BB and see if you get anything in My Computer.

Also-- do you have other drives using drive letters e, f g? If you do, move those items elsewhere, rename the drives and free up e f and g. The removable drive likes to have one of those slots.

See if it's connected in windows device manager - if it is, delete it while it's connected, then unplug, reboot the bb, and plug in again to see if it will recognize media card.

Default Firewall Red Padlock

Unfortunately none of the above worked> However for different reasons my carrier gave me a new phone today.

This worked perfectly I noticed that the "firewall" was not locked on enabled with the dreaded red padlock.

I wonder if this was the reason for my troubles!

If I restore all my data will it return.?

many thanks

i had a problem getting my computer to see/recognise the bb, but I found that running the desk top manager helped and I also tried taking out and replacing the battery. after those it recognised it but I am no expert on these things
