I did a search but didn't find anything about the new 7130e and extra batteries. Is there anything to stay away from in getting extra batteries for this unit? Where is a good place to get extra batteries? And what about chargers just for the batteries? Anything on them and where to get them?
Hello there,
You need to look for a secure type battery for this model handheld. Should be described as CS-2 for standard battery and CH-2 for a high capacity battery. You will need to purchase OEM product as well as any aftermarket batteries produced for the earlier 7100 series handhelds will not work for your model.
RIM Part numbers are:
ACC-10477-001 Standard CS-2
ACC-10470-001 High Capacity CH-2 (very tight supply on this one)
These secure type batteries are also required for the new 8700 series.
Shopblackberry.com has the OEM battery for about $29.99 + $9.95 shipping/handling. Depending on smartphonedepot's shipping/handling, their deal sounds good too.

okay I got a spare battery for my blackberry. My next question has anybody found a case to carry the spare around in. I want something to keep the battery from getting torn up or from shorting out in my pocket. Like the cases that you get with some of the memory cards, anything like that.
The accessory compliment offered by RIM is carrier driven - If Verizon asks for the HiCap battery the door will get created. This is Why Nextel always have high cap batteries right from the get go - The ask RIM for them.
