......create a folder for photos that can be hidden when you open the photo viewer?

Open Media and navigate to the folder you want to hide. With the folder highlighted, use the Menu key to choose Properties. There is a check box there for "Hidden".

Open Media and use the Menu key to choose Explore. Navigate to the folder list in Pictures and use the Menu key again, this time selecting Show Hidden. You can then highlight that hidden folder and use Menu to go to Properties. Uncheck the box for Hidden.
