I have done business with Adam and he's the only truly trustworthy reseller I know.

In the past when purchasing phones from him, they always arrive in perfect condition with all the manuals in english, and the order is processed and shipped very quickly. It's also nice to do business with a company that knows their product and will return your emails and answer questions.

A very happy GSM PhoneSource Customer.

Cheers....

I could've sworn there was a law passed (week of thanks giving) saying cell phone providers had to give you an unlock code without any stipulations..

I have never had a problem getting my phone unlocked from t-mobile. I just call them and ask for the unlock code and they've given it to me without any hassel. Granted I've only done this with 2 phones, (rest of my phones I've bought unlocked).

I've unlocked several phones through Cingular. It's normally the roaming support department who does the work.

Hey. I have been reading this thread and having just got my Pearl yesterday, decided to get it unlocked. I am with Orange in the UK and they charge £20 or $39 approx but they say it can take upto a month as they get the code from Blackberry direct. I will keep you posted on how long it actually takes.

whats the whole point of buying a BB unlocked. Is there a difference between locked and unlock. like if i buy a BB from ebay and its unlocked, would it cost more than a locked one?

No difference accept that the unlocked can accept any SIM from any GSM provider. As to the cost it all depends on the availability of the unit and will open up the ability to sell it to others. Some can get it unlocked by their provider and some can't and as a result they seek some one to unlock it for them. Many who unlock their BB's (like me) also have another SIM by another provider and would like to use the BB when they can. However, while using it with another provider's SIM, one is not to expect to have emails and so on function as the BB can only be registered to one account at a time and to get it registered on another, then one must have their provider release it from their system in order to use it on another's BB plan.

I have a 8100 Pearl from Rogers Network, tried so many sites and can only find one guy on ebay for $150! Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a way to bypass or pull the unlock code from the phone itself?

Please don't spam your unlocking site here anymore. We get the idea.

ATT just gave me the unlock code for my 8100. I followed the procedures, entered the code and pressed the ball. Message came on the screen saying "code accepted". So now it is supposed to be unlocked so I can put a German SIM in it next week when I'm in Munich. Question to the experts... does the unlocking survive a battery pull? After I unlocked the thing it would not make any calls and froze up when I tried to power it down normally. A battery pull brought it back to life and now it works normally again, but is it still unlocked? Thanks.

the unlocking survives everything. There is nothing you can do to lock it again.

Thanks John, that's what I wanted to hear.

Any recommendations on who to go to once I'm over in Munich to get a SIM for a one week business trip? Vodafone?

I'm sure there are plenty there. I've never used one, though. Be aware that you can't get a BB data plan on most prepaid sim cards. It'll be phone/sms only.
