Another issue I found on this one - if you had a Bluetooth headset connected to the 8100 and a call came in, you could quickly toggle between bluetooth, speakerphone, and handset by hitting the '.OP' key. Now it'll only toggle between bluetooth and speakerphone. That sucks!

Anyone know a different key for when the headset is connected but you want to pick up in the phone's handset?

I never even knew you could do that and I've had this thing for close to 6 months......

...didn't know that either. I knew it toggled speakerphone/handset but didn't know it toggled bluetooth too.

Yeah, it's annoying because I'll have my BT headset in the charger but technically it's still connected to the phone. So it rings, and I pick it up fat, dumb, and happy and it's in my headset...about 10 feet away. I got good at hitting that key twice really fast and it'd pop right into the handset. But no more, I'm afraid.

Well, if anyone knows a quick key instead of going through the menu that'd be great. It's so unprofessional to pick up the phone and have to fumble it for 3-4 seconds to get the call in your ear.

My install went pretty easily. I set it up to install then I went for a nice little run. After dodging a few rockets, completing a 5k run, I came back and it was completely finished installing. Isn't Iraq great?

You get to try this yet by any chance?

Yeah, same issues. Disconnects many times while in TeleNav. Then when I exit TeleNav the bluetooth still shows connected (little arrows) when it should be disconnected. I have to turn the bluetooth off, turn it back on and start TeleNav again. It's an intermittent problem. Sometimes it works fine and other times it takes 10 minutes just to get it all going and get a route. I think it's an OS issue since it never did this in 4.2.0. All the 4.2.1 releases have had this problem.

Concept,
I'm an American not by birth but by choice (from a well-to-do European country, if that makes a difference to anyone)... a word of thanks to you and everyone over there, whether you're there as a soldier or a contractor, not that it should matter.

My install did not go well. It failed half way through the upgrade and bricked my BlackBerry. I tried to wipe the device for over an hour and couldn't get it to appear in the connection menu. I finally rebooted and tried again. Found my BlackBerry in the end and I managed to install the update. I lost my third-party applications but was smart enough to backup my data. In the end I guess when the upgrade failed it killed all the USB drivers in Windows which is why it wouldn't show up. Very Frustrating

I will say that after upgrading to .107 media files such as pictures load much faster, it was worth the pain to fix that alone.

It's not much help now but this might help for next time. I do this before every OS update and periodically when I load new apps that I want backed up. It can take quite a while to install all 3rd party apps again.

Also, this can save you the hour trying to get it wiped again...

No. It is clearly a bug. Emails still queue properly. The problem is only with SMS.... This feature doesn't burn anymore juice than any other time you are in a No Service zone. The messages simply stay pending until it detects a network connection again.

We should definitely start a petition for this problem. I can't believe RIM don't take their time fixing an OS, it's like.....WHAT'S THE RUSH!

I have had NO issues with .107 since I upgraded on Thursday. I am using a TMO Pearl that I received about two months ago. Sorry to hear a bunch of you are still having problems. I hope they release 4.3 soon.

I believe the previous version is 4.2.1.101 (there was a 4.2.1.103 but that was pulled and replaced by the .107 release). This is possible, you have to uninstall the .107 release from your computer, and then install the .101 release. Then you will need to reload the OS on to your handheld device, too.

Smile .107 seems to be working - No dropped calls

After months of suffering through the mysterious TMO/8100 dropped calls issue with various OS versions, I decided to put .107 on my 8100 on Friday and give it a shot.

After a full weekend of use and driving around Colorado I only dropped 1 call (outside of West Vail -- but that was due to coverage issues).

YMMV but .107 is better than .101 for me!
