Default 8100 takes ages to load pictures from memory card?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have a Blackberry 8100 Pearl, I have 16 pictures currently stored on my memory card (None on the phone), and no major applications running. But the device takes between 1-2 mins just to load the images up.

This is if I go via Media > Pictures > My Pictures

The phone just sits there for ages with the hour glass going. Once they are loaded and I exit and reload they come up quickly. Restarting the handset causes the problem to return.

Is this normal? Or is there another reason its doing this?

Thanks in advance

That happened to me after I updated my phone. However, only after I boot the phone up. If I let it sit for a few minutes, and everything load, then no issues with loading anything. Same if I change a theme, I have to let it load and sometimes go into my music and let it load once, then everything is fine.

Try to reboot the phone, then go into you're pictures and let them all load, then back out and try again. Hope you're issue gets fixed bro, it is a pain in the ass.

The longest wait for Me is after a battery-pull...

But, it still takes an abnormally long amount of time to display photos through regular use...

It is very frustrating - especially when you're excited to show somebody a photo and you're both standing around waiting for the BlackBerry to finally display the damn photo already...

I have my camera setting on "Super-Fine" (I'm trying to get the best photo quality(?)) - I don't know if that could cause the problem...(?)

Or possibly having too many photos in a directory could also be a factor in the slowness...(?)

Glad I'm not the only one then Thanks for the replies, clearly its a BB problem in general. I'll just make sure to load my images at least once after every reboot.

Same here. I have seen though that the older 8100 (got mine a month after release) is the faster it seems to be. 3 of my friends have 8100s that they got all about 1-4 months ago and they are extremely slow doing anything especially photos.

I scanned my blackberry for "disk errors" with Vista and it found and corrected some... Then, after that, I noticed the photos loaded much faster... Give it a try...

Mine (an original 8100) is was bought only about 2 months after it's release and even with the current OS, it takes a minute or two to display pictures too.

I think it was fastest on the original OS that came on it. And my photos are on the built-in device memory. I never installed an SD media card on it.

Being that it's device memory, any computer I hook it up can't access it directly to do any kind of checking for disk errors, even though it shows up as a removable drive.
