Arrow WiFi takeover when at home?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I have recently received my new BB, the bold.
Looks great at first sight.

I was happy to see that it now supports WiFi, something the Curve did not support to my surprise.

So, I set it up. It connects fine.

However, I have the impression it does not use the WiFi, when in a WiFi zone (with configured networks). I expected it to use the WiFi connection when I'm at home, rather than doing everything over the 3G.

But it seems to do everything over 3G, and not WiFi.
I checked the settings screen, to see if I could find anything there, but I can't.

Does anyone know how to change this? Or is this not what the WiFi is meant for?

Do you have all of the required information, such as your WEP key, input?
If not, go to Manage Connections, Wi-Fi options, click on your home network and select security type, select and input your WEP key (if you have WEP as your security type.) If you have no security on your home network, you should set it up with security. If you don't see your home network go to "Set Up Wi-Fi Networks" and "Scan for Networks". Hopefully you will see your home network as one of the options.
I use Wi-Fi at home like you said you wanted. It should show your home network name (your SSID) at the top of the screen just after the name of your carrier.

If you go to Manage Connections and then select Services Status it will show where the services are going.
To use WIFI when web browsing you need to ensure that you are using Hotspot Browser. To find this go ot your web browser and then BB menu key, select option. Go to General Properties and select Hotspot Browser as the Default Browser.

Actually, I want ALL TCP programs to connect over WiFi when it is available...

I have an SSH client on there and some other tools. And I use the Opera Mini browser, as it has better support for a few things.

NONE of these things work with the WiFi.
Shouldn't there be an option to do all TCP traffic over WiFi, if available?

It is not straightforward but you can make it happen.
First:Make sure to turn on the wireless data on if you turned it off before.
Second: Connect to home network.
Third: Turn off your Mobile Network off for a few seconds and wait until your WIFI to turn solid white
Fourth: Turn on your Mobile Netwok on
This is what I have figured in last two weeks. Hope you can use it
