It doesn't work anywhere, ever?

Maybe you're in an area with no coverage. Who is your provider? Where are you?
Do you know anyone else with the same provider you have? Do they get coverage where you don't?

I have had some problems with this (although very rarely).
First, try turning off the radio and turning it back on.
If that doesnt work, try removing the battery, re-inserting it, and turing the device and radio back on.
These assume that you should have coverage where you are.

You can also try a master radio reset.

Options > Security. Click the wheel and select "Master Radio Reset." The password to reset should be 0000 (that's a zero)

The user's profile says the device is a 7230. There is no Master Radio Reset on this handheld.
