Default BlackBerry Media Sync on Windows Server 2008 x64 (64 bit)

Please Login to Remove!

Does anyone know how I can get BlackBerry Media Sync to install on Windows Server 2008 x64 (64 bit)? I run Server 2008 on my laptop and want to sync my BlackBerry with my iTunes library.

Thanks,
Bradley

Not sure it's compatible..

I must ask why are you running Server '08 64 bit as a "PC"?

I develop and a few of it's services for testing.

Also, Vista would crash daily on me and I got sick of it. Server 2k8 rarely crashes.

Yea, Vista does have it's fair share of issues.

I've only got one Server '08 at work and to be honest I haven't had to mess with it too much. (Since it's actually working quite nicely). So I am not too on all the differences in Server '08 yet.

Have you tried gong back down to XP. Or maybe running some VM's if your computer can handle it?

Also you might want to check to see if Server '08 has a compatibility mode, simply right click the .exe file and go to properties there should be a compatibility tab, try running in Windows XP/Vista mode.

I'm using VMWare Workstation for XP and another Server 2003 R2 but my iTunes library is on my host. I cant get it to install. I get:

An unsupported operating system has been detected.

Refer to the BlackBerry Media Sync Installation Guide for installation prerequisites.

Setup will now exist

I have a feeling that it still doesn't support 64 bit. On BlackBerry Cool they claim version 1.1.0.24 now supports 64 bit but I cant find that info anywhere. And the existing installation guide on BlackBerry support still says, "BlackBerry Media Sync is compatible with 32-bit editions of Windows® XP SP2 and 32-bit editions of Windows Vista."

The problem is most likely with Server '08, unless the VM's are effecting it which I doubt.

You might have to wait to till they release a newer version.. but that might be a while, you are better off moving your library to one of your VM's (Your XP one).

Yeah, I think I might do that ... With 6gb of RAM it's easy to keep the vmw running... I started buying music on Amazon (MP3's) instead of iTunes and I want to get them sync'd to my BlackBerry now that I don't have to go through loops with protected songs from iTunes.

Default Media Sync in DM 4.7 works for me on Vista 64

I know the thread is about Windows Server 2008 but the first media sync that would install for me on my Vista 64bit machine was the one that came from the Desktop Manager 4.7. It syncs with my ITunes just fine on the Bold except for purchased downloads

Now that my iTunes library is literally DRM-free (YAAAAY!) I really want to sync my Blackberry to iTunes. I just have to figure out how to get this darn thing to install on my 64bit Server 2008.

That's one obstacle out of the way, but I still think Media Sync in not compatible with the OS (Server '08) So you might have to wait for another upgrade from
