Maybe someone can help me out; I just called customer service at at&t to inquire about the global bb data plan that goes for 64.99, I was shocked to hear that I would be charged for data roaming in countries like panama and costa rica as these do not appear in the list of countries att has pertnered with... Can any of you global roamers confirm so does this in fact turn out to be a not so global data plan?
I know, but the agent on the line was referring to this list:
att.com/dataconnectglobal
which lists the supposed countries where roaming is allowed at no additional cost if one has the BlackBerry International with Voice plan. This surely does not add up to "over" the 150 countries mentioned in the description of the plan:
"Use your BlackBerry device to send and receive unlimited email in the U.S. and around the world in over 150 countries"...
I believe DataConnect Plan is different from BlackBerry plan. It applies to Laptop Cards, PDAs, Smartphones and iPhones. Try and call this AT&T International Data Customer Service : 1 877 366 6021 to confirm.
I know Costa Rica like Belize has a privatized cell market. AT&T worked in Belize but it cost an arm and a leg to make calls or get SMS because of the private phone networks.
Scroll down in the table to BlackBerry International. Says International Data Included, but doesn't specify where. Would love to know definitively. I have never had problems in Australia.
