Devcon - Storm Giveaway.
Please Login to Remove!
I'm curious if anyone that went to the BlackBerry Developers Conference and elected to get a Verizon Storm has received theirs just yet. I know Verizon hasn't officially released it yet, and I believe they mentioned it would be shipped 1 month after it was released, but I'm hoping they ship them early.
Have you received yours yet?

Wirelessly posted (Verizon 8830)
Good question. I notice the individuals who posted their impressions are vodaphone users.

I am waiting for my DevCon Storm. The "voucher" says 30 days after release. I to hope that is just to set expectations and it ships sooner.

Still checking the mail everyday, but nothing so far. I'm with Troy, hoping the "30 days" was just in case they fall behind in available inventory. Sure would be nice if it shows up on the 24th...

Sent an email to the address on the voucher wanting to know when they planned to ship the developer devices and if they would send notification when it was shipped.
Suprisingly they responded almost immediately. Unfortunately the developer Storms are taking a back seat to consumer shipments and they "hope to ship them by the end of the year" (so much for the 30 days after release verbage). They did say they would send notice once it was shipped (so you can make sure none of your co-workers swipe it).
I'm hoping they live up to their "30 day after release" pledge which will mean a nice Xmas present should arrive around 12/24.

Thanks for checking in with them - I was thinking about emailing them too.
It wouldn't surprise me if they have an outlook rule to handle these inquires - hence the quick response ;)
...Still waiting here ... :(

FYI my wife won a Storm at a Seattle promotion for the phone, they told her 2-3 weeks and it would arrive. Well that was back on November 21st and she just got a new update from them today saying it would now be another 4-6 weeks until the phone arrives. My guess is any of you waiting for a phone won't have it until the end of Jan 09. Doesn't surprise me really, they obviously want the paying customers to get their phones first, screw the people they had prior commitments with, regardless of whether they paid or not.

Sigh...Just received the following:
Hi there,
We have been getting quite a few questions in our inbox about the status of your BlackBerry Storm from the giveaway at the BlackBerry Developer Conference, so we would like to send a quick update. We know you’re excited to get your new smartphone (we’re excited to see what you develop for them!); we just wanted to let you know that you haven’t been forgotten and that you’re still on our list.
We hope to be able to send you shipping details soon, stay tuned.
Thanks for your patience,
The BlackBerry Developer Conference team

And, just received the following:
Hello,
I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you again for your support and attendance at the BlackBerry Developer Conference this year. It is due to the incredible attendance and your positive response that this conference was a huge success.
We are making every effort to fulfill our commitment in providing you with your new BlackBerry Storm that you chose onsite at the conference. Delivery of your smartphone is being conducted as expeditiously as possible, but at this time we realize we are not going to make our committed timeframe. Demand for both the BlackBerry Bold and BlackBerry Storm models has absolutely overwhelmed us, and we have found ourselves in stock-out positions since their launch. In light of this situation, I wanted to let you know we will now be including a BlackBerry Remote Stereo Gateway with the package coming to you soon.
We believe this will add a new and dynamic dimension to the use of your BlackBerry Storm smartphone, please enjoy.
We appreciate your support and patience.
Best Regards,
Jeff McDowell

Yes, it seems they really pulled one over on the developers at devcon...
Wasn't the message something like "we really want you developers to start developing some new apps for the Storm"? Guess that was just smoke up the you know where...
Did you notice there wasn't even an estimate when they think they will ship the Storm? I wonder if we'll ever see the Storm? Maybe when the next generation hardware is released and the Storm is no longer being used?
What a terrible way to treat the folks they want/need to develop new apps. Kind of shows where their priorities really are...

I've heard rumors that the developer Storms are starting to ship... Let's just say I'm not holding my breath, but I sure hope the rumor is true...

Mine has finally arrived! It shipped with the .75 OS, so that will be the first thing I change. Newly available 4.7 MDS Runtime will be the next thing I load.
