I can connect to UMA / Wi-Fi with no issues.... I had T-Mo add what is called a BlackBerry Feature Enabler (see this thread: http://www.blackberryforums.com/wifi...abler-uma.html)

1. BBMessenger does not work even via Wi-Fi (you will need a data plan)

2. BBWeather will connect and update via the Wi-Fi connection

3. PDSports will connect and update via the Wi-Fi connection

4. Beyond411 will connect and search via the Wi-Fi connection

5. I can surf the net using the Wi-Fi browser as long as I am connectd to Wi-Fi

That is all I have discovered thus far....

Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I searched all the forums and haven't found anything that helps. Can you give any tips on how to get BBWeather to work on the 8320? I was able to get 411 to work via the WiFi connection, but not BBweather (I have the BB email plan, but not the BIS so I'm just using wifi for data also). I saw via another post how to get to the options menu, but can't see where to add the location in a profile.

So, figured out how to add profile, but BBWeather still doesn't connect via WiFi.

Since my account has been repaired / fixed here is what I now have working via Wi-Fi and with the BlackBerry Enabler Feature add on...

--GMail application
--PDSports
--Beyond411
--GTalk is working (for now) but is hit and miss

BBWeather is NOT working since my provisioning issue was fixed....

So if I am reading this correctly you have the Gmail and some other apps working via a Wifi Connection, and you have NO data Plan?

Now is it safe to say that if I had a bb8820 and no data I could do the same, and make calls, and txt message...........

I had to ask to make sure

To update and add more:

What works:

--GMail application
--PDSports
--Beyond411
--GTalk
--Viigo
--SyncJe

What does NOT work:

BBWeather
BBMessenger

I'd be happy to test out any applications you are curious about, just let me know and I will try it via Wi-Fi...

Kris

Have you tried Google Maps? I saw a post where someone was able to connect with ver.1.6.3, but I have not been able to connect successfully myself. I haven't called T-Mo to turn on feature enabler yet though.

How were you able to get Gmail apps working fine???... I DL'd the software package from Google....was able to get news and sports working fine...but couldnt get Google Maps or Gmail App to work at all....kept giving me some error....So I am accessing my Gmail over the Internet connection, but would be nice to have an App installed for easier access and nicer GUI.
Any suggestions?

Do you have the BlackBerry Feature Enabler added on? Call and confirm that it is infact added... I did no special configurations... Downloaded and they work just fine...

Gtalk was giving me errors until I added the Gtalk service book(s)

But still not working.
what are the features (Blackberry,WAP,etc. for)...I saw these once when going through my options, but can't seem to find them again, and have no clue what the difference is....I search on the wiki here to no avail.

first it says "the application Gmail has attempted to access the network. Would you like to allow this" (Yes or No)

Then I get:
"Network Unavailable: The program is unable to connect to the server. this is likely a temporary problem. Please wait a minute and then try again."

It has been doing this for over two weeks!

Any clue on how to fix??
Would like to use Gmail app. and also Google Maps....but neither work!

Google Maps when loading says :
"Terms and Conditions
Loading please wait..."

Then goes to Network Unavailable

I assume you are trying to connect when you have uppercase UMA

Can you go to Options >> Advanced Options >> Service Book and list all the service books that it says you have?

Thanks
