Default New info for Mac users wanting Hosted BES

Please Login to Remove!

I am looking into gettinga hosted BES for my BB, but I am a Mac user. So I sent an email to the guys at exchangemymail.com about this possibility and below is the response I got today.

Quote:
How can I find detailed instructions on how to set up my account on my Mac Entourage program?

Thanks,
Marc

Marc - currrently we do not support Entourage. We have a high level MAC user comming in to consult for us to help us to get this working. Should be in the next few weeks.

We will keep you posted.

Best Regards -

Even if they don't support it Entourage 2004 will work fine with Exchange server. Myself I use Mail.app as as M$ Entourage at best is bloated and unreliable but it can be done and doesn't require a tone of know how. The following will give you a good overview. http://its.ucsf.edu/information/soft...urage_2004.jsp P.S. I've found eoutlook.com to be pretty Mac friendly.

I, too, am looking forward to using ExchangeMyMail once they begin supporting Entourage 2004. I "test drove" MailStreet for the 30-day trial, but ExchangeMyMail has better rates (plus a discount for us on BBForums...).

I'm looking forward to integrating my XP box at work, my Powerbook at home, and my 7130e (my constant companion!)...

I think I used the following for Exchange setup on my Mac with my host. http://www.rit.edu/~wwwits/services/..._exchange.html. You could use the link to setup with ExchangeMyMail if you can get the server entries/settings.

Excellent. I e-mailed EMM to see if I could get my service reactivated with the same email I had when I first tried it.

I also finally got XP and Outlook 2003 at work which should remedy my other issue of not being able to connect to their servers through my firewall...

My dream would be to get a seamless integration like this:

Work PC (XP / Outlook 2003) <--> BB 7130e <--> Home Powerbook (iCal/Address Book)

In the meantime, I'm hopeful that I can get Entourage running. I'm also looking cautiously at Snerdware's Groupcal as an Exchange to iCal/Address Book link.

I sync my 7130e with Entourage 2004 via Mailstreet. It works very well for "Contacts" and "email" but it does not sync "Memos" or "Tasks."

Is this typical? Has anyone got "Memos" and "Tasks" syncing wirelessly?

I don't think iCal will sync with it, only email for Apple Mail. But as for Entourage, I think everything but tasks will sync, not sure. EMM did send me an update about this - they said the Mac guy is in their office this week, so any resolutions will be made known VERY soon.

Have you seen this?

Once I get everything running in Entourage with some degree of consistency, I may give it a try...

Sorry! I wasn't clear: Calendars and Contacts and email - yes
Memos and Tasks - no

This looks interesting, but it only covers the Calendar. I am giving it a test though.

Calendaring is my most important concern...

I'm pretty happy with my e-mail setup right now going through Gmail and BIS. Not sure what I would gain by adding the additional forwarding step of forwarding Gmail to my EMM account to check it that way...

Current Setup:
Gmail --> [email address] (and keep copy in Inbox)
BB "From" address spoofed to Gmail. A copy of "Sent" messages from the Berry are BCC'd to Gmail (to keep the "Conversation" going in the Gmail interface) and filtered in BIS to keep from coming full-circle back to the 'Berry.

I can't see any benefit to going to this:
Gmail --> EMM Exchange Account --> BB

Am I missing something?

Anyway - back to calendaring... I've got email working OK, and my address book changes so rarely that it's only a minor concern. However my calendar is constantly moving around. I'm stuck with Outlook at work, but I like to use iCal at home. At this point, I'd be happy with Entourage (I know EMM is working hard on a solution for us die-hard fans of Apple!).

Let me know how you fare with GroupCal!

http://www.link2exchange.com/kb/ind...&srch=Entourage

link2exchange (link above) has some help with Entourage + MACs. It's working well for me.

Wireless sync of contacts + mail + calander but not tasks.

I'm also considering GroupCal with one of the hosted BES sites.
How'd it work out for you? Do you sync more than one calendar?

Are you integrating Address Book too? I'm hoping that the built-in Exchange support will do what I need and I won't need to sync with Entourage or buy something like AddressX.

Thanks!
