Default .122 the storm has finally arrived

Please Login to Remove!

Completely wiped my device installed clean copy of .122 per this link

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ilanguage.html

as instructed

after instal did another wipe let OS do a clean install on the device

resent service books

everything so far seems to work well

very fast

If verizon can improve on .122 the wait will have been worth while.

I am CONFUSED.....your sig says you have Verizon. Everything I read about .122 is it is for the Storm 9500 not the 9530.............. *EDIT* Everything I read about a .122 review of the OS. So is this file actually for a 9530?**

Did you install this on a 9530???

Thanks!

jhalpinjr, if you read the link he posted, you will see it very clearly that THIS version is FOR the 9530.

Yes, Bell Mobility of Canada has released .122 for the 9530.

If I use the .122 that just got released from Bell, and tomorrow or next week Verizon rolls out .122, will they be exactly the same? Or does the OS differ between carriers? Basically what I am getting at is if I load the .122 from Bell, would there be any reason to wipe that and install the Verizon .122 when it comes out?
Forgive me if I have confused anyone. Please reply!

122 is 122. It doesn't matter where it came from. It's all the same.

I'm in the same boat as you actually. If this does happen I plan to downgrade and then install the official from verizon. Reason being I want my warranty. I have been waiting for the to release the update so I can take my phone in and get the click checked. And I'm not willing to downgrade to .75 nope never doing that. I like being able to use my phone but I also like my warranty. Other than that .122 is really nice. Its faster and the keyboard actually keeps up with me now. The new selection tool for copy and paste is hard to get use to because I'm coming from .109 but this is a huge improvement been over that.

If you say it's an improvement over .109 Im gonna try it out, .109 has been very good to me, but if something is better, then its better!!!!

generally from what I understand. carrier releases may be *nearly* identical ...or somewhat different. Bold release depending on the provider ....some favor 2g networks other's favor 3g network

I doubt any thing will be different all I'm saying is if some small number somewhere is different and they discover it at the store bye bye warranty.

Default A word of caution

I made the jump from 113 to 122 yesterday. 113 had been running fine but it was no longer the "newest" thing out there! I am rolling mine back to 113 this morning. In less than 12 hours, I had to do 3 battery pulls, the message indicator showed new messages when there was none and the cursor was "misplaced" when I would enter my password. This morning after entering my password I got the please wait... and then nothing. Locked up tight.

Maybe I got a bad download?? I D/L'ed straight from RIM so I do not think so. IMHO, this is not worth the time.

From everything I have read the "official" release for VZW will be .113 not .122. But I'll stick with my .122.

Yes its here....and I'm already having issues installing it. I was using .90 and all was fine. Then I uninstalled .90 from my computer, and installed .122. Now when I try to install .122 to my device, it says that the desktop manager did not find any installation files...? I am using the method posted which I have always used before, deleting the vendor.xml file and running the loader.exe app.

How come it wont find the install. I checked the add/remove programs in my vista and its shows it there.

Well, I bricked my bb using JLCMDR so now it reads a 507 error. I tried installing the OS again but the same error message about it not finidng the OS on my PC came up.

Any hints?

Thanks,
Scott

I've had problems in the past with it saying it can't find a new version, but after a PC restart it finds it fine.

I upgraded yesterday and I can say this is what the storm should have been new out of the box

Very fast all aspects of this device are 200% better

Note do a clean install do not backup or restore

1. wipe your device completley twice

2. Pull battery wait 5 to 10 minutes reinsert battery

3. Instal clean version if .122 no backup or restore this should give you a device just like you get out of the box

4. After install wipe your device again this will let .122 reinstall itself on the device

5. Setup as need go to host routing register on network

6. Resend service books

7. Verizon only dial *.228 when answers press 1 follow promps

8. Verizon only dial *.228 when answers press 2 follow promps

9. reinstall apps as needed import address book

10. Pull battery wait again reinsert battery and you should be ready to go.

So far mine is working great screen shift is fast memory does not leak away Network is fast

this is how i did my upgrade to me it is the only way to install new OS on anything clean clean clean that way you are getting what you installed not some possible corrupt bits left over or imported settings that may need to be different under this or any OS

When you say to wipe the device, are you referring to the internal "wipe device" command in the security section, or are you referring to using a program like JLCMDR?

Thanks!

I finally figured out why that message keeps popping up and not allowing me to install the new OS's. I found this article here: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...-xml-file.html
...who knew that the problem would be so simple to fix. Well, I'm installing now and hope to experience the greatness!

Yay for the "search" button!

I've never changed the OS at all yet since I got it, should I try doing all this or just wait for the official release whatever that may be?

I upgraded to .112 this morning and beside a little panic attack I had at first because the service books for my browser didnt come up ( because I didnt do a battery pull after the download) Its been great. i upgraded from .109 which was pretty darn good, but this one seems MUCH more stable.

So far absolutely NO issues! And Ive been messing with it non stop. I have alot of apps. Lots of medical & nursing stuff plus the weather apps and such. And its been great! no hesitating, screen changed quick. no drama! So far im a happy camper!
