Default Q - IT policy

Please Login to Remove!

Is it possible to authorize user to install Gmail, but no other third party software on the BB?

I already setup block for IM, but how to I authorize only Gmail because something user required to have the Email Alert from outside sources, but I don't want to to have the ability to install wallpaper theme and AOL, other fancy program to the BB.

I know how to block all third party program installed, but is it possible to have option for one program?

Thanks

Nope. Either they can install apps or they can't. Your only option is to remove the restriction on third party apps, install the app, and then reapply the restriction. Not a big deal for one user, but unmanagable if a lot of users.

I would really like to see an enhancement that would allow any application pushed by the BES to bypass the third party rule.

Yes, absolutely possible.
You would do this within Software Configuration by creating an application 'whitelist'.
Basically, you set the default Application Control Policy to Disallow, and then only Allow the applications you wish to have installed on the handheld.

KB05392 - Control and remove third-party applications using a software configuration - Port3101.org : Your BES Connection
