Since becoming a member of this and *another* BB forum, I see that the standard answer for a lot of problems (real or perceived) is "Did you try a battery pull?". I understand what this does and have no problem with it but was wondering, how often do you pull the battery just to do a reset, clean up memory, etc.?

About once a week here. Mostly just to free up memory. My 8830 rarely locks up, even though I have 9 3rd party apps installed.

Havent added any new apps for a bit, the ole 8700 doesn't require me to battery pul to often. Happens mostly when I switch to a different device (BB)of course

I have like 25 third-party apps installed (I know, obsessive) and my free mem ranges from 18-22 mb free and I normally gain 2-3 mb on a weekly battery pull reboot.



Schedule it with the weekly bath and its easy to remember.

What BlackBerry allows for 40MB of free memory?? My 8320 is just under 21mb after having done a battery pull reset. I can't remember what I had in the 8800 when I had it...I doubt that it was that much though.

It is a tmo 8800, with 2 OEM themes, BBlight, xPlayer and viigo, all the extra are take out, OEM wallpaper, sample video/MP3, help, game, language display/input, task.

I did my first battery pull a few days ago -- had the Blackberry for almost 7 months. I had to search the forum to find out how to open the BB to remove the battery.

The Blackberry and I both felt good afterward. I did it again just now and gained 11 MB back - went from 23 MB up to 34.

I've never had a problem that required a battery pull except PocketDay continues to show unread messages when I get SMS even after I've read and deleted them. The battery pull fixed that.

I was at 11 megs for a few days. I loaded 1 app. BBWeather and notices it went down to 5 megs. I ran memory cleaner ans powered off. Nothing. So I did my first battery pull and now I have 15 megs!

i find that every 2 weeks or so, the GTalk application stops showing the status changes of buddies and the only way to fix it is to pull the battery. i guess i could try a soft reset...but screw that!

the best way to fix anything is to hard reset it...without a doubt. of course in JiveTalk all of the conversations that you had up will be gone, but they will still be saved in your Chat History.

I pull my battery probably every 5-10 days. it's good to have a reset. you definitely see an increase in performance afterwards. i HATE how it takes almost 5 minutes to reboot though..that's a big pain in the you know what haha
