Default Hearing Impaired Which used BB do I want?

Please Login to Remove!

I am hearing impaired and I am looking for a used BB. I met someone once who was using one on a speakerphone and his was incredibly LOUD. I didn't see what model his was :(

I am going to go with a TMobile pre paid plan but I only want to use it for the cell phone and an occasional text that I will buy. I rarely use a phone, mainly for emergencies.

Can anyone steer me in the right direction? Thanks, Laura

Only you will know which one is right for you. You should go to a T-Mobile store and try the available models.

I'm looking for an older BB. Something under $100.

Before you buy a used BB, read this from our FAQ, it applies to buying any used BB, not just from eBay: Buying a BlackBerry off eBay - BlackBerryFAQ

Do you make use of hearing aids?

I am pretty sure as far back as 4.5 there is support(possibly more) for the "hearing" aid mode for the telephone functionality.

TSS has been supported since like forever.

Been through about 5 different models here. The 9000 has the best speaker phone(loudest and clearest).

Just not sure what you are after exactly.

Thank you. That helps a lot.

Yes, I wear BTE (behind the ear hearing aids.) I panic at the thought of being stuck in a situation of not being able to "hear" on a regular phone without a speaker phone. It has happened. Then I have to have to ask for someone to translate the conversation for me. I know they are supposed to work if you hold the phone up to the aid, but it doesn't process in the brain when you can't hear from both ears and you are in the panic mode.

So I appreciate it. I am looking at the crackberry forum also and it looks like my choices are 8120, 8220, 8320, 8820, 8900, 9000 wifi. So the 9000 is perfect! I was leaning towards the 8900 because of the price mainly but the 9000 is not that much more.

Like I said in my original post, I am going to drop my ATT plan since I rarely use it and get a 1000 minute yearly TMobile prepaid card for data only. I don't need internet. I only want a phone with a LOUD and clear speaker phone. And I read that you can use a BB without the internet features and just use the data plan. The BB I experienced was the best phone I had ever heard - bar none. I could tell what they were saying on the phone from across the room. I just wish I had asked what model of phone they were using!

I am hearing impaired myself and have a cochlear implant. The Blackberry I have is the 9650 that is through Verizon, I'm not sure what the t-mobile equiv would be. This has a nice loud speaker phone that I use occasionally.

I ended up ordering the 9000. According to the crackberry forum those models can still use the wifi without the data plan or something like that. We'll see. I'll just be grateful for it being loud.

Thanks everybody.

That is not correct. You will not be able to fully use WiFi without a data plan.
