Default boot up time

Please Login to Remove!

My 8900 takes longer to boot up than my 8320, 6+min for the 8900 and 2+min for the 8320. I would have thought that the faster 8900 would boot up faster.

Is this normal?

Thanks

6+ minutes seems high for a new device to boot up.. mine takes around 3 min to boot up. It could be possible as the 8900 comes with lot of pre-installed apps. You may want to try uninstalling some of the heavy apps (like Help, games) and then check the boot up time.

When I first got mine it was under a minute, possibly 30 seconds, to boot. Now that I've changed the OS it's taking a lot longer. Around the 3 minute range.

Mine takes 30-45 sec with original OS. No 3rd party apps are set to automatically start up though, just WiFi/UMA.

How do you stop apps from starting up on boot?

I don't think any apps normally open when you boot. I always close my apps (like browser) when I'm done with them so no webpages are running. Normally only Messages, Phone, BB Messenger, Homescreen, and Browser are running/open all the time. Hold Alt and press return to see what apps are running on your phone.

I am running 4.6.1.144 with media/video removed, I do have a few 3rd party apps installed but none of them start at boot up. During the next upgrade I will do a clean install and see how quick it boots up.

I have MissingSync and Phoneface Dialer installed and they both startup automatically during boot up.

Any way to prevent this? Maybe in the application permissions? Thanks!

I think there would not be anyway you can prohibit an app to start if it has been programmed to start after device start up. You can go through the different attributes and review the permission set for that attribute but I doubt it can be done.

I have no idea. Don't think I've rebooting since I upgraded the OS a couple of weeks ago. Unless you are re-booting frequently, it doesn't make that much difference.

Wirelessly posted

2 minutes and 8 seconds for me, but the Bold boots up much faster than that.

If I hold alt and press return it locks my keyboard but doesn't show which apps are running. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Doc

My phone also is in the 6+ minute category. Add in how I am constantly trying/upgrading/uninstalling apps and the reboots drive me crazy! Oh well I guess.

My boot time is also in the 4-6 mins range...My 8800 had the same amount of 3rd party apps, and it does not take that long (2-3 mins, which I complained about when I first got it, compared to Nokia and other phones)...

I was wondering the same thing. My phone takes longer than my 8320 and 8100 to boot up
