I have not experienced a similar problem with opera, sorry I can't relate.

Also, Opera is aftermarket software, not RIM software. Mod may want to move this.

If anyone has a fix it'd be great. Two annoying things about Opera are:

It's not possible to just type directly in the field, it requires the use of the trackball to open the text enter window and then to ok it.

It capitalizes the first letter in the text entry field.

I end up typing the first letter twice then deleting the capitalized one as a workaround to the capitalization problem. Pretty annoying.

I believe the capitalization is the way the RIM UI control works. I don't know if there's anything Opera can do about that.

There's no way to get around inputting directly into a field. There's also no way to get around how drop downs work in Opera either.

Unfortunately, I think this is the only way.

I agree. Just like if you press twice, it will insert a period.

Not a major issue for some of us.

I find it very annoying too.

What I do is type the first letter twice and then go and back and backspace it. Opera Mini does not capitalize it then.

So if you are typing the word "Blackberry" type "Bblackberry" then move your cursor to delete the captial B.

I hope that makes sense and helps you.

You don't need to type the letter twice and then go back and delete it. All you have to do is type the first letter once and hit the delete key and then start typing. You will see it makes the first letter lowercase. Much easier method than typing it twice and going back and deleting the capitalized letter.

That's what I thought too. However that method still produces an upper case first letter in Opera Mini.
