Default Verizon BB 7250 EV-DO update

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, everyone.

I'm a data tech for VZW and I thought I would post a clarification about the BB 7250 and the tethered EV-DO offering.

Currently, it's for business and government accounts at this time. During the first quarter of 2006, the broadband EV-DO tethering option will be available for the consumer market.

If you're not a business or government account holder, you'd be in violation of your VZW service contract and we were told NOT to add the tethered EVDO option for the general population.

I would also advise waiting until the 4.1 handheld software is released for the 7250, along with BBDM 4.1 for it. I tried adding 4.0.2 to my device and I got a 507 error when the device initialized and I got a fatal error on the application loader. I have a feeling that I'm not the only one that experienced this and by watching the threads here it seems that there are some issues with 4.0.2 and the 4.1 BBDM doesn't seem to be fully debugged.

If you're up for a device upgrade, you could get a 7130e with a discount if you really want/need a tethered EVDO Blackberry device, even though I personally can't stand SureType!!

My apologies for raining on the parade here... it seems that the Powers-That-Be got wind of the discussions here and are clamping down. *sighs*

Default Verizon, are you listening???

Tell the powers that be to relax and take a breath. The collective experience of the folks on this forum should be considered priceless feedback to Verizon for a variety of purposes that will only serve to benefit the company and its product and service offerings. A definate win/win situation, I would think.
