If you are doing this for the first time, or doing it for the first time with that device, there are two important things to know. First, get out in the open so the device's view of the sky is not blocked by trees or buildings. And, it takes a long time for the device to acquire a fix the first time, or if you've moved a great distance since the last time the gps was used.
If you still can't get it, then try a hard reset.... With the power on, remove the battery for at least 30 seconds. Or go ahead and do that now, then go outside and try the gps again after the device finishes booting up.
