Question E-Mail read status syncing?

Please Login to Remove!

I just got my very first BlackBerry, a Curve 8900. After using a Samsung Blackjack II and WinMo, the BB is a dream come true, but I'm still learning its ins and outs.

Using Google's own setup instructions, I linked my Gmail account to the BlackBerry and installed the Enhanced Gmail Plug-in, per their recommendation. Overall, I'm pretty pleased with how it works, but here's the problem: if I read a message on the BB, it gets marked as read in Gmail's web interface. If I read it on Gmail's web interface, it will (as far as I can tell) stay marked unread forever. Can I fix this?

This isn't a huge deal: if, once a day, I have to click "Mark Prior Opened" on the Blackberry, I'll survive the experience, but it'd make me happier if it did it on its own. Thanks!

nope, BIS is NOT 2-way sync.
it will only show read status BB -> Gmail
not the other way around.

No, with GMail, the read/unread marks only sync one way. (device to desktop)
Only Yahoo mail offers 2-way read/unread sync with BIS.

It might be a bit of a roundabout way, but you can just install the G-Mail mobile app, and use that only for your gmail accounts, then it's seamless. Read it on your BB or Desktop, it will appear as read on the other. I also find it a convenient way to keep track of my gmail and work related e-mail (under a proprietary domain/e-mail account name).
