Exclamation Girlfriends' Curve (Verizon) keeps turning itself off

Please Login to Remove!

My girlfriend is now on her second blackberry curve from Verizon and both are having the same issue that they randomly shut themselves off.

It seems to be when she sets the device down on a table - the slightest little jolt causes it to shut off.

Any ideas? The guys at Verizon are jerking her around.

Thanks!

"Girlfriends' Curve (Verizon) keeps turning itself off" means that you have many girlfriends with that problem.

"Girlfriend's Curve (Verizon) keeps turning itself off" means that you have one girlfriend with that problem.

Punctuation is everything.

"Let's eat, grandma" is not the same as "Let's eat grandma".

Well, that was constructive. What version OS is on the phone? I was having a similar issue, where the phone was freezing, then locking up at random times when I was using it and it was nowhere need a magnetic source. I backup my BB once a week and about a week or so ago I was prompted to upgrade the device OS, it's now 4.5.0.175 and I haven't had any issues since. Worth a shot.

How does she carry her BlackBerry? Does she put it in her back pocket? She may have broken something inside it and the connection is now intermittent.

Just a thought.

Does she have a media card in her device that possibly came from an older OS. 4.2 or 4.3? Did she upgrade the OS on her first 8330 to 4.5 and then the new one shipped with 4.5? If so, I would say the issue is with the media card. What happens when the card is removed?

To answer the questions:

- Not sure exactly what version, but it is the most recent as the desktop manager prompted me to install new software the other day, which I let it do.

- She carries it in her purse, always does, and is generally quite careful with her stuff.

- Yes, there is a media card in there that I gave her and has been used since she had her Pearl, but I fail to see how that would cause the device to reboot.

She went to the Verizon store yesterday and they gave her a new battery, so we'll see how it goes....I guess just to cover all our bases, I could try reformatting the media card....

Take a look at this thread and maybe you can get a better understanding of why it would be the media card.
