Unhappy Loaded DM, now can't edit Outlook Contacts

Please Login to Remove!

Search for similar issues, but couldn't find any.

I have a 7130e configured for use at work. Loaded DM v4.1.0.8 at home last night and successfully sync my personal Outlook Contacts with my BB.

Came home tonight and opened Outlook to edit/update some Contacts and then sync again. But once I edit a single Contact field and click on another field, Outlook stops responding and I have to force it to close. What have I done?

I'm on Outlook 2003.

I changed my BB Address Book and Task settings to be non-wireless (or something...to allow me to sync).

And I now have a personal inbox full of e-mails with this subject:
RIM_bca28a80-e9c0-11d1-87fe-00600811c6a2

Any input would be greatly appreciated. Have I killed my Outlook forever??

THANKS!!

Brad

Brad, syncing your BB to Outlook should not (at all) affect the way Outlook operates.

Do you have Desktop Redirector setup?

I think I did set up redirect, yes. I was unsure which to select on my home PC considering my work had everything pre-configured to function with my work e-mail.

However, I'm not syncing my home e-mail with my BB. Just my contacts, calendar, and tasks. Should I alter my configuration at home? Will that affect how it functions with my work Outlook?

I understand what your saying about Outlook functionality. But I've had Outlook on my PC for 2 or 3 years unchanged. And it was the day after I installed DM and synced my contacts that my Contact Entry function within Outlook crapped out. The coincidence is very...coincidental.

1. Download and install the latest Desktop Manager version 4.2 to your computer, Service Pack 2 (or SP1 if you don't want all the Roxio Media Manager).

2. I would uninstall Redirector. It does not sound like you need it. That should take care of the strange emails in Outlook.

3. Keep the change for the wired sync, you need that if you are home syncing your address book, etc. By the way, email/messages never sync, that is whole 'nother discussion, and since you don't need it, we won't.

Good luck, see how all that works.

Make sure you choose the BIS/Internet option when installing Desktop Manager at home.

Takeshi, how do I change my DM to the BIS/Internet option when I've already installed Desktop Manager? I can't seem to find that option anywhere.

I rebooted and my Outlook Contacts issue cleared out. So I just need to change my BIS/Internet Option setting (change "to" that option), and I should be all set.

Thanks!!

That is why I suggested you download and install the newer version of Desktop Manager. You will be given that choice then.

Good luck.
