Exclamation Micro SD card issues - BB 8100

Please Login to Remove!

Hello, I have a BB 8100. I installed Desktop manager and
updated to the latest OS for tmobile which I think is 4.2 if I'm not wrong.
I have two issues with the card, Please Help!

1- I bought a micro SD 8gb card, uploaded a bunch of songs, probably 2 gb. I loaded them directly to the card pluged to my computer via usb adapter. then put the card on the phone. I worked. Later on I added a bunch of other albums, a few videos.. after inserting the card i got error msg the card needs to be checked for errors. I took the card out of the phone and plugged in to my computer via usb adapter, and erased most of the new added files. Later I put the card back in to the phone, and the error msgs were gone, as well as the new added songs I erased. Why is this? is like if I add more songs and put the card back i will get that error msg..
Please Help

2- Issue #2 is that I open Media Manager Roxio, with the card on the phone, it shows the card is present, but i can not drag anything to it or open the folders of the card. I tried turning Mass storage on, and off, either way I can not access it eventough it appears on the Media Manager.
Thanks a lot

Wirelessly posted (BB 11020)

First, OS 4.5 is the latest for Tmo and the 8100.

Second, its best to format the card while its in the BB. Go to Options >media Card and format it there. Then plug in and drag and drop your songs and videos. Use mass storage mode and don't bother with Media Manager.

After the card is formatted it will have specific folders for music, videos, pics, etc.

Please look in Options >About and tell me what OS version you have on the device.

If you have OS 4.5 then you will get all the capacity of your card. Formatting the card in the device is the best way to go.

Go to the top of this forum and find the sticky thread for the 8100 latest OS. Install that. Then format the card in the device and load your media.

Instructions are in the thread.

I thought tmo released 4.5 for the 8100. If not, the one in the sticky will work just fine. I have it loaded on 3 other 8100's of my own. It will work fine. You'll like it.

Here is a link to the 8100 forum that we're posting in right now. At the top are "stickys" that are just threads that stay at the top. They start with "Attention"

There is a sticky for each 81xx device. Use the one that says "Latest OS: 8100...."

In OS 4.5 it has to scan the card in order to populate the Media app folders. If all goes well, the scan will finish and all your songs and pics will show up. If not, and the scan doesn't finish, then you may have some files in there that the OS doesn't like. You may have to remove them until you find the one causing the problems.

I'm guessing there are still issues with your media card. Remove the card and see how the device responds with the card not installed.

If removing the card fixes the freezing then read through this:

i tried removing the card last night and still freezes, out of 5 times i think i freezes 3, with or without the card
the worst is that the phone blacklight never goes off during freezing wasting battery power
