Wireless Sync with Lotus Notes - Hangs partway through

The wireless sync appears to be a wonderful thing; however, in practice, it seems to have some issues.
Getting it going appears to be a large headache. After the calendar translator is set to "BlackBerry Wireless Sync" and then the first serial synchronization is performed, it will hang partway through the process.
From going through other postings that I have seen here and on the BlackBerry site, this is usually caused by a corrupt calendar entry. What I have not seen, however, is a good method of tracking down the offending entry. I don't want to have the users just start removing calendar entries without some rhyme or reason behind it.
When the calendar translator is set to Lotus Notes, the calendar synchronizes without issue. It is only after switching to the "BlackBerry Wireless Sync" translator that the synchronization will hang. Of course, because the first synchronization never completes, the Wireless calendar is never enabled.
My users are using BlackBerry Desktop Manager v3.6.3 on a 957 handheld with OS 2.6.1. My users also are either using Lotus Notes 4.6.7 or 6.5.2. Any help on how to find the offending calendar entries that are causing the wireless sync to hang would be appreciated.
