Default How to disable web surfing on BB device with IT Policy

Please Login to Remove!

Good day all,

We are in the middle of a VoIP rollout which means that many more users in our org will receive BB devices. I have just received a requirement from our CIO to create 3 different IT Policies on our BES server. The one I'm having a problem with is removing the ability, through policy, to disallow users from surfing the web on their BB device. I have gone into the specified IT Policy--> Browser Policy Group--> Allow IBS Browser and set this to False as recommeded by several other sites. Needless to say, I have pushed this policy to a new device with no change. The device is still able to browse the web wether I use the normal Browser or the Vodafone Live! icon. They both need to be disabled or removed. I would greatly appreciate any assistance provided. Thanks in advance.

What version is your BES?

In a 5.0, try:

Global > Allow Browser > False

If anything still gets through, also try:

Browser > Allow IBS Browser > False
Browser > Allow Hotspot Browser > False

Follow this to block other browsers.

KB15242-How to use IT policy rules to disable browsers on the BlackBerry smartphone

then block sites with this

KB10342-How to set up pull authorization to grant or restrict access to specific web sites on the BlackBerry Browser

Hey Jadey,

Thanks for the reply. We are using BES version 4.1.3

The Global--> Allow Browser had already been set to False and the Browser--> Allow IBS Browser as well. Hotspot Browser I'm still looking for.

I've been BES 5 for a while, you might not have that setting in 4.1.x

Have a look at the link knottyrope posted...
