Default HELP OCS 2007 (RTM, R2) and BES Integration

Please Login to Remove!

Morning everyone, need some HELP ,

I've read (See note below)

You *have* to extend the schema. If you are going to use Blackberry handhelds, you’ll need to extend the schema with OCS 2007 first, then extend with OCS 2007 R2. If you don’t do the OCS 2007 extension first, you will not be able to install the OCS 2007 CWA role which still has the Ajax API’s...

Is there a work around to this? I believe we installed R2 First and not RTM. Can anyone provide some clear guidance, and implementation recommendations? Thank you.

Pat

Unfortunately I think you see the problem - you have to intall OCS (original version) first, with the schema extensions, install CWA (original version - which you can't upgrade)....

If you go straight to OCS R2 then OCS will not work on the BB. Not aware of any workaround :(

Sorry, forgot to add that we are deploying BES 5.0, and have ensured the compatibiltiy with the deployed handheld (for BES 5.0), units in the field.

OCS 2007 R2 isn't currently compatible with any version of BES nor any handheld OS.

Not 100% accurate.

If you have an OCS (initial release) system up and running, through BES and to the devices, simply do not upgrade your Communicator Web Access to R2.

Then your desktop/laptop clients (and servers) can be on R2, but your BBs remain untouched. It is clearly a workaround, but it works.

If you work in an environment like I do where that work around wasn't an option then what I said was 100% accurate.

And in other environments it works just fine.
If you have the original version of OCS and planned the upgrade properly, it works. 100%

Well... We are moving from LCS to OCS, and the OCS implementation started off as a pilot project with MS footing the bill and thus they decided what we were going to rollout in what version. See... told ya I was right... LOL

In the end it's all semantics....
