Default Verizon Curve- Anyway to let me type more than 160 characters

Please Login to Remove!

In my other Verizon phones i could type more than 160 characters to verizon users, but with the curve it wont let me tpe anymore than 160 characters. Is there a way to turn this off? my text can be quite long sometimes.

Wirelessly posted (my new touch button BB)

Actually on my tmo and ATT BBs I can do more. It is a limitation put in place by the provider. On ATT and TMO it breaks longer messages into 160 character parts

I send text messages because not everyone has e-mail available to them all the time. The only way to communicate is to send text messages. That is if you dont want to actually talk to them. I was one of those people that thought they would never use text messaging. I used to say "It's a ******* phone. Call me!!". Now I am the king of text with over 3000 a month.

My old Moto Q used to break them up into smaller messages if it ran over 160. I wonder why it would be disabled through Verizon strictly on the BlackBerry? Do we know if this happens on all Verizon BlackBerrys or just the Curve?

This is your only solution, it will make it to their phone as a normal SMS/MMS. I had to do it this way when i had an 8830 w/Verizon.

The Curve sends and receives MMS messages on Verizon. Until it was officially released, MMS wasn't provisioned on their network. MMS is the way to go for anyone with video and picture messaging on their plan.

i know that verizon cripples many of their phones. however, i don't think verizon takes bb users seriously. On all of their regular phones, if you type more than 160 characters in an SMS, it will break it in multiple parts and send them that way. BB SMS is limited to 160. Verizon does not allow VCAST on their BB's. Even VZNav is behind the curve (no pun intended). The newest VZNav allows for traffic updates, weather, movies, etc. Unfortunately, those that have or want VzNav on the BB, are left with the oldest version and no prospect of getting the newest update. Yet, we still pay $10 like everyone else but for an older version. I like VW reliability but if everyone i know didn't have verizon wireless, i'd switch back to at&t in a heartbeat.

i guess, there are some phones that can't do more than 160. I'm guessing it is the first razor. My razor2 that i had before my BB was capable of breaking into parts.
