You really shouldn't be storing pics, videos and music on the system memory anyway...

In general, make sure that you're aware whether or not cons that others list are personal preferences or not and make sure that you check into those preference-based items on a first hand basis.

I've had my Curve for two months and memory has never been an issue to me, even after installing a lot of third-party programs. The system never got slow because of that. Of course, you'll want to keep pictures and media files in the micro SD card. There is no room for them in the system memory.

The Curve takes a whopping two minutes and a half to boot, but all programs launch pretty quickly after that.

I've never seen a 8800, so I can't compare the browsers or anything. But I am quite happy with the 8300 browser. Hint: go into Options and set the emulation to Netscape mode. It does make a difference in many sites.

Any other general problems to help us decide?

Thanks.
The 8310 has GPS. I use it religiously.

Whoever says this is on crack. They run the same OS. They have the same memory. The browser is the same, and the screen is the same resolution. I have been using the 8820 for a bit, and web browsing is duplicate.

Thumbs down so far not so good...

i just purchased my 8300 curve on saturday, upgrading from the 8700 (the best bb to date imo). there was plenty of hype on this and i must say i am pretty disappointed
#1 issue - lag time - EVERYTHING lags on this. my convenience key is set to change ringer profiles. when i hit this button it takes about 1.5 - 2 seconds. i even get the timer sometimes, just to change my ringer setting???????? like i said, everything lags. even if it's 1-2 seconds, that's 1-2 seconds slower than the 8700 which never lagged on me. Receiving emails lag as well for me. A couple of emails never came thru at all. opening most apps lag at least 1 second. this needs to be fixed or I am just going to get another brand spankin' new 8700. don't care how big anyone thinks that is, it's the most reliable bb ever!!!

That is indeed a major design mistake in the 8300.

John Clark is going to throw his supper dish at me for mentioning this AGAIN, but I think it is very relevant again (I'm thinking more about people who will search the forum or Google rather than those that have read the threads already).

Also, read what I have described HERE.

I'm sorry to hear that you are so unhappy with your 8300, however I too would be pretty frustrated if I was having the lag issue.

Fortunately, I've had 3 Curves, most recently my new RED 8310 and I have no lag issues. It's every bit as fast as my 8700c. I also concur with you regarding the 8700c being a very good BB. The only exception (for me) was I did not like the shape of the keypad keys, as I have large hands and found them very hard to use.

Conversely, even though smaller, I find the keys on the 83xx series perfectly shaped and I can type more than 2x faster on them than the 8700. Then, in lieu of having any lag issues with mine, I find the 83xx to be the best of all the BlackBerrys' I own.

Hopefully your report will cause others to check in to report their experiences.

Cheers....

Im wondering why you purchased the 8300 curve when it is being replaced by the 8310 and 8320? I have the AT&T 8310 and there is no lag issue. Everything is snappy, and faster than my other BlackBerries. I think you should go to to store that is ripping you off by trying to get rid of old stock 8300's and ask for a newer 8310 or 8320, or switch units because that one may be defective.

I do not think they were intentionally trying to rip him off. They actually get credit for returning all the old models the minute they are taken out of current inventory, and they can get in serious trouble (the store) for selling an recenly discontinued unit.

It is more likely and honest mistake by a untrained or unaware sales rep. All the customer has to do is go back and they will readily exchange it for no out of pocket expense and give that person an 8310.
