Default Verizon 8330 GPS and 4.5OS

Please Login to Remove!

I have a verizon 8330 and have recently upgraded the OS to 4.5.0.51(74) since the upgrade Blackberry maps sees my internal GPS and appears to be using it to determine loction. In options my GPS source is Internal GPS (it was <None> when using the Verizon supplied 4.3 OS.
The 4.5 OS is not a Verizon supplied OS -Verizon's is not available yet. Does anyone know if the OS is enabling the GPS or Verizon has enabled this for the updated OS?

**Additionally I noticed my RAM on the device has changed from 82MB (4.3) to 96 MB (4.5) -reported on the BES and device. Does the new OS also handle memory allocation better? **

Thanks

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry 9000 4.6.0.67)

The internal will show now, but it is locked on a firmware level not an OS level. It still will not determine your location properly unless you have a bluetooth gps or you have VZnav installed and subscribed. The OS just shows the total memory, your device has had 96 since the day it was made.

Thank you. When I was outside it appeared to locate satellites and when I was inside it said it could not lock gps signal, I assumed it was working. Whats strange is I have 2 more 8330 devices on our BES and they are only showing 82MB they were purchased from verizon at the same time. I guess I missed that mine had 96MB. That's cool none the less.

I upgraded my Verizon 8330 to 4.5 tonight. After a while it came back and said:

"Your device has been remotely disabled for location tracking"
