Question OS upgrade for 8530?

Please Login to Remove!

I am brand new to the BB and am expecting mine delivered later today so I don't know much about it right now but I am reading alot about an OS upgrade and wonder if I need this upgrade for my new phone or not. If anyone wants to pass on any bits of wisdom for me about this phone, I would sure appreciate it. I have never had a BB before so I am very excited to get it.

If the device works fine for you, then there's no reason to upgrade. Play with the device for a while, get a feel for it. Learn the device first.

Wirelessly posted

Ditto. It is easy enough to do, but there is the potential to mess up and frustrating to fix if you are real green.
at that sort of thing. Get some experience and see what's what.

As well as the 8530 was launched with 5.0, you are getting a lot of the new features with that OS so you may find you don't want to change anything at all.

I have an 8520 and I was really wanting 5.0 for the threaded sms and reported improvements and that is why I upgraded. I didn't make that decision that I wanted that until about two months after having my BlackBerry.

Another vote for using it a while before you try to fix what might not be broken in the first place.
