Default ShoutCast Radio For BlackBerry 8820

Please Login to Remove!

I was playing with ways to be able to get shoutcast on my BlackBerry 8820 and it seems that I have done it.

I have tried this using the "hotspot" browser mode as well as the internet browser that comes with the BB. I also tried it using the Medianet mode.

I have been streaming live free radio stations from ShoutCast for about 6 hours now as I am playing with it. I am not sure if its a freak thing or what.

I need someone to verify that it works on their BB 8820.

I am not allowed to post urls yet so the url to test is:

Hey all, first post.

Using the Internet Browser on my 8820 v4.5 I'm able to browse the stations and when I select one I'm asked if I want to open or save. I choose open and it launches my media player, but there doesn't seem to be any activity after that. I tried hitting 'play' and still nothing.

Could you share with us some of the things you did to get it to work?

It may be that its taking some time to download the stream into your media player. I believe there is a buffer built into the player. Maybe try another link and see if it streams.

I may have to try to get lower bit rates for these streams if others have trouble streaming right from the links. I have not tried these links in a regular browser to see if they stream or not either.

it doesn't work for me either. I tried the station that worked on my computer with winamp and wmp, but it does not play on BB. I am on 4.5.0.81, Curve with AT&T.

Do you stream using wifi or Edge?

I am sorry I promise that I tested it with my BB 8820 using both wifi and the edge network connection and was able to stream just fine. I think maybe I will have to find a way to lower the bit rate for the stations that are streamed. I think maybe its taking too long to download the stream and that is why its timing out.

I will try to get this fixed asap. I promise

Also, I got some free themes that everyone is welcome to download and use if they wish. I am new to this so please no bad words to me about my themes

Why don't you shoot a video of your BB playing ANY shoutcast stream without a 3rd party application? I said any, you can try 32kbps streams--
I tried everything BB player just does not stream these naively. You need a 3rd party application.

For your information java radio [MFradio 0.9.1] played back these streams JUST FINE until it got choked due to lack of good buffer in blackberry (that was 4.2, I did not try it in 4.5). So it is NOT the streaming problem, it is ability problem.

Thanks for this working great on my 8830 telus.
