I have emails and text messages on my Bold 9700 that go back more than a year, but the search function seems to only want to go back as far as 8 weeks. Does the search function have a limitation as to how far back it will search messages?

I don't know, but I can't think of any reasonable explanation for why the search wouldn't operate on the entire message database.

Have you tried a hard reset and then tried again? (Hard reset is removing the battery for about thirty seconds. Do it with the power on.)
