Has anyone installed this? (mobile.google.com)? Its a package that includes google news, search, docs, maps, etc....

I was wondering if anyone is having problems placing calls after installing it?

No issues at all with it.

I found it checks for updates more than i would like and for some reason google maps 2 beta wasnt in the package. so i install the apps separately.

Have you checked your emulation? clear your cookies and cache and then make sure your emulation is set to BLACKBERRY...
