Default 8900 Panel damaged by accidental fall

Please Login to Remove!

My 4 weeks old BB had a bad fall and the panel is badly damaged, esp the crome portion on the side of the panel is chipped off badly

I can't see my phone in this state and would like to do something, need inputs on the best way to fix this. These are the options my friends have given me

1) Replace the panel by buying one off ebay - available for approx 50 USD but i hear that the warranty becomes void if a third party opens the phone to replace the panel. Buying the panel from BB directly is unaffordable, they charge approx 150 USD which is 25% of the cost of the phone.

2) get some silver/chrome paint - closest shade to the original and try and cover the damaged area with this paint/spray? Is something like this available on the market? Will it work?

3) Get a BB case/skin to cover the whole phone - not sure if this is a good idea

Plz let me know what should be the right option to pursue.....

Thanks
Aamir

If I read your op correctly I think what you need is this and its far from the 50 on ebay that you were saying it was you can get this from cnn.cn for under 25 including shipping BlackBerry Curve 8900 OEM complete chrome bezel - Cellular Nationwide Network - Cellular as far as the LCD thats always expensive to replace so I would way out your options and get it fixed you can buy the part yourself and fix it yourself as well. there are great guides for teardown and swapping a part is fairly easy.

number 2 sounds like a bad idea it seems like it will make the phone look worse i would say use the site that Scuzzy said and just buy and replace it yourself or try this site daydeal.com they have pretty good deals too
