Default Quick Profile Switch

Please Login to Remove!

I have a question for you guys!

I recently learned that holding down the "Q" key will switch you in and out of the Vibrate profile. While this is a great function, I was wondering if anyone knows if I can change that so it switches in and out of a different profile. The 2 most common profiles I use are Normal (duh) and Phone Only (for the office, since I don't want it vibrating or beeping anytime I get a personal email or BBM when I'm in the office). I also use the Quiet profile when I'm sleeping.

So ideally, I'd have 2 hotkeys that toggle to Phone Only and back and to Quiet and back.

Any thoughts?

You can assign a convienience button to go straight to the profile selection

I actually use the shortcut key "F" for that, but thaty requires a keystroke, scrolling the ball, and a ball click.
I'm looking for a one button solution.

Thanks anyway!

actually you can cut that down even further aldazar

hit F, then say you want vibrate, hit V, then space

you can do all that in like 1 sec

and say you want it back to normal or loud after hitting F just hit the correct letter, L = Loud, N = Normal, V = Vibrate, S = Silent , etc etc etc

Nice! Thanks for the tip, that's definitely better than the way I've been doing it!

Short of the dedicated key like Q for vibrate, this is probably the best way to switch.

Cool! I just got my 8900 yesterday and while I had already been doing profiles Cory's way on my 8320, I didn't know about the new Q shortcut! Thanks!

You have to turn Dial From Home Screen off. Go into your call log, press the menu key, select options, general options, and set dial from home screen to no.

Yeah, if you turn Dial From Home Screen to off, it allows you to use a whole bunch of shortcut keys from the home screen. I can't live without them now, it's one of the big reasons I like the full keyboard better than the pearl keyboard too!

Here are some of the shortcuts I know of:
R- Used to open the alarm panel, but doesn't work in the new OS (for the 8900)
T- To Do list
U- Calculator
O- Options/Preferences Menu
A (or C) - Address Book
S- Search
D- Notepad
F- Profiles
K- Keyboard Lock
L- Calendar
B- Browser
N- Blackberry Messenger (this one is the reason my N key wears out...=P)
M- Messages (email, basically).

If anybody knows of more shortcuts or tips like this, let me know! =)

Cool, I was going to ask about that because with it on hitting F just brings up your contact. So to dial a number you go to phone then?

Yes, press the green call button and dial from there. These shortcut keys are a big help in keeping the homescreen clutter free too. I move a lot of icons I can get to with the shortcut keys to a folder and then hide the folder.
