About to merge contacts from 2 bberry's - need advice

I have a 8330 as my personal phone. My contacts are all manually entered directly into the phone (no Outlook, etc).
My employer has just given me a 9700 to use. All contacts are entered via Outlook & then sync'd to the phone. We do not use BES.
I am tired of juggling 2 phones & want to dump my battered old 8330.
How can I transfer my 8330 contacts into my 9700 & have them all go into a separate category? Using the Blackberry "Filter" feature, I want to quickly be able to "hide" my personal contacts (that I want to import from my 8330) when I'm at work, then hide my work contacts when I'm not working.
I checked my current 9700 contact list (on the phone) & all of them are shown as having "no category". I thought I could highlight all contacts & edit them & move them to the default predefined "business" category, then I'd import my personal contacts & do the same with them but move them to the "personal" category, but it looks like I'd have to do that one by one -- not an option (I don't see a way of doing this in Outlook either).
What options do I have here? I don't want to proceed and really mess things up :(
