Lightbulb 3rd party software "can not access network" error

Please Login to Remove!

I have a Blackberry 7130e on the Telus network here in Canada and am having difficulties getting any 3rd party software application to access their network. I have tried 5 different software products that download stock data from the internet and all return the error message can not access the network?? I can access the web directly and get e-mail no problem so Telus says tough luck!! I have tried to resolve this issue for weeks can anybody help please??

First off welcome to out happy little fun time message boards!

Secondly, try doing a search for the topic, most of the time you get your answer a lot quicker than just posting.

Thirdly go to options > advanced options > tcp and tell me what you have typed in for your APN

Hi thank you for your reply!!

Unfortunately I do not have a tcp heading under the advanced options. I was informed by Telus that the APN is automatic and not accessible, not sure if this helps?

This definition just came up on a search if it helps


Nextel/Telus - iDEN - Has TCP/IP
No APN/TCP settings required on iDEN units including 65XX, 75XX and 7100i. They are special because they are iDEN and more native TCP/IP. After a new BlackBerry activation, you may need to wait 2 business days before third party Internet software such as VeriChat works. In the past, it was necessary to call Nextel to order the static IP address option (about $4/month), but now a static IP address appears to be included with BlackBerries by default.

Im sorry for some reason I was thinking Telus was gprs/gsm. Did you try calling them to see what they have to say?

Yes they said they do not support 3rd party programs and will not acknowledge that it is their issue.

PocketDay should work on Telus CDMA. Set the pocketday communication setting internet connection to BIS.

Figured they'd say that. Not sure what to tell you on that one then but how many days has it been since you activated the BB?
