Default sprint BIS help.....same email in my outlook and on the phone...

Please Login to Remove!

just as the title says.

this started just this past weekend.

i have an exchange 2003 server that i admin at work and i have had my bb 8330 curve for about a year now, configured BIS through the sprint.blackberry.com site and it has been working fine up until this past weekend.

it seems that every 25 minutes i get this message in my inbox and then to my phone

"This message is used to carry data between the BlackBerry handheld and an associated server. Please do not delete, move or respond to this message - it will be processed by the server."

i tried to search in this forum and on google and everyone says that this has something to do with the desktop software. well, i never installed any software.

also, another suggestion was to resend the service books, but i did that about 30 minutes ago and the messaged still keep coming through.

thanks for any help

Did you install the BB Desktop Manager software and accidently select the BB Server option versus the BIS option? If so you installed Redirector components which are causing the issue.

Hmmm... That's a new one for me, and I'm an ATS agent for Sprint. You said that you haven't downloaded the desktop software and it's doing that? If you've resent the service books, and it's still doing it, try erasing the e-mail account from your BB, and setting it back up again. Sprint also tends to have issues with BB about every two weeks or so, so it may be that your area is experiencing what we label as "maintenance", which is just a way to state our engineers are still scratching their heads, trying to figure this one out. If deleting the mail and reapplying it doesn't work, you may want to install the desktop software, back up your phone (without the mail saved to the phone) and hard reset the phone, restore with the desktop software, and then try setting up the mail again. I swear it's like the Sprint phones (any kind) have an IQ about half of what their counterparts in any other carrier's arsenal. If you want more help with this, I'd be happy to help.

i already tried deleting the account and setting it up again. i did notice that my sprint card has been acting funny the past few days, so i am wondering if that has anything to do with it. i am in the chicagoland south west suburbs, wondering if there are any down towers or something...

Don't remember seeing anything about downed towers around there, and it wouldn't do something like that to your mail, even if there was. I'm going to ask around at work tonight and see if I can gather any intel for you.

I read both. I simply wanted you to verify you didn't install - or someone previously - that Desktop Software. Simple mistakes can happen.

ok, i just installed the software and selected the BIS option.

however, unless i missed a step, i don't see how this will help. it never asked for any phone information or my email address. the phone is plugged into my computer, all it said was found new hardware and installed the drivers...

thanks for any help. still trying to resolve this. i went to work today and there were over 150 of those messages since Friday. 1 a day doesn't bother me...but 5 every hour is annoying.

This is what southwestcomm was referring to.
I keep getting odd emails from RIM - BlackBerryFAQ

Delete any servicebooks that may have [desktop] next to them.

i ended up resetting the phone, that seemed to work and i kept my 3rd party apps. also, my contacts were backed up, so i didnt lose anything. those emails seem to have stopped coming through, but i will update tomorrow if i remember.

thanks all.

i dont think installing the desktop software solved this issue. since i did that last night and i still had those network emails coming in...

From what I have read, this is a possible reason "That message comes from the RIM-Server that tries to connect a BIS-Unit to BES. Happens when you're on BIS and try to activate the Enterprise Setup. After a few days the RIM-Server will stop that messages automatically."

Not sure if it helps or not however.

no it doesn't because i was always on BIS and never tried to do any setup with BES.

this just randomly started happening after everything was running smooth for a very long time.

either way, resetting it fixed the problem. i am sure there was something i could have done that didn't wipe the phone, but since i had my contacts and 3rd party apps saved, the reset didn't bother me.
