Well, finally got one and setup on BES and placed the 8120 aside, for now.

Maybe was expecting too much, but actually thinking maybe going back to Pearl:

1. it's a little wider, but it just bugs me a bit that it's not smaller, closer to Pearl dimensions

2. because of the raised keys, when you press on the green call button row, it feels like that row is concaved inward, a strange feeling on the fingers

3. not having today's theme bugs me without seeing calendar appts on front of screen

4. still need to get used to full keyboard, but have more mistypes than the suretype

5. screen is very nice, but since I use BB for email and not media tasks, it doesn't matter to me as much

6. the micro usb is a pain, having to get an adapter so I can use usb cable to charge phone from laptop

Is there a Pearl 3 coming out?

I don't think 2 days is long enough. Switching from the pearl to a curve took me a good 2 weeks to get used to.

BTW, most of the points you pointed out are things I love about the Curve. Give it a couple of weeks.

3. should be plenty of today themes out or coming our for the 8900, for free
4. get a flip
6. micro usb is the future, in 12 months, all new mobile devices will probably be micro.

The flipPearl is cool. Talk about huge keys! I just ordered my 8900 this morning. My 27 month old trusty 8100 trackball will not scroll down no mo. Time to move on and I'm excited to get an updated BB. You'll get over the things that bug you about the phone I bet. Themes are coming. Keyboards are keyboards. Charging ports are just little holes.

I think the Pearl is truly unique in its design and that is why you are really comparing apples and oranges here. Rather than looking at two devices, just consider the pros and cons of each device independently. If you are like me, the 8900 will come ahead. Eventually. And you'll never look back.

Yes, I did the same move (8100 to 8900)...a change was needed!

Got mine a couple of days ago too and coming form the pearl and then flip I am having real difficulty in typing lol I suppose I'll get used to it, great screen and much faster in my view to the pearl, but I really love the flip, so I'll report back too in a couple of weeks. BTW where are all the free themes?

I know right??? So subjective... But it seriously takes an 21 days for the brain to adjust to a change. Breaking synapses and replacing with new ones are apparently not that simple... LOL

I've had some of the same issues adjusting from the Pearl. I tried to switch from my original 8100 to the 8320 and returned the Curve since I simply couldn't type nearly as fast on it and decided to hold out for the 8120, which I got as soon as it was released. While improved in some ways, I still preferred typing on the 8100 but adapted quickly. When I read about the 8900, I realized it was time to give the Curve another shot. To say that I'm very pleased is an understatement. I haven't been this excited about a new phone since my original Treo 600 six years ago. Yes, it is much harder typing on the 8900 compared to the Pearls; the keys are small and cramped, and delete is where I'd like enter to be. I have trouble finding #, *, and I keep wanting to press P to activate the speakerphone. More than anything, I miss word autocomplete and cannot comprehend why they wouldn't include such a very useful feature. I pray that it will be added to future updates. But overall, the 8900 is incredibly comfortable to hold (hey, their marketing people got it right!), it's fast, "just works," and the camera is seemingly miraculous. Finally I have iPhoners jealous of a BB! I know I'll adapt more to the keyboard over time. I still worry somewhat that I'll never be able to type as fast, but I also don't waste time correcting words that the software simply wants to turn into something crazy. So while I may be somewhat frustrated with one aspect, overall I'm quite pleased. My 8120 was highly problematic, whereas the 8900 seems like a mature adult (but not the slow variety).

Great phone, only issue is the very bad battery life that everyone is talking about in the other threads... I can just get through the day on it, if that
