Default 3rd Party App Email Alerts?

Please Login to Remove!

For all the non BES/BIS blackberry users who fetch their emails through third party applications.Do they provide any notification (maybe LED) when a new email is received?

Thanks!

BBSmart will use both tones, if configured, and LED.

@djm2
I don't think BBSmart can be used without BES/BIS, can it? This is only a graphical extension for the regular BB mail client and not a stand-alone application if I'm not mistaken.

@gutter
Gmail app (gmail.com/app) provides almost the same range of notifications as the built-in BB mail client and can be used without BIS/BES. It offers vibration, ringtones, LED - the only thing missing is that little "envelope" icon on the top of the screen which shows up when BIS/BES mail or SMS arrives.

Please note that this is not (yet) true push mail, but the application just polls for new mail every 20 minutes. Obviously, it only works with Gmail / Googlemail. Other stand-alone mail clients come from Yahoo (go.yahoo.com) or TiggIt (tiggit software) but their notification is not as good in my opinion.

You are correct -- I missed that part entirely. Thanks for setting me straight with the OP.

Glad to help .

P.S.: I forgot Consilient - Free Push Email and Mobile Advertising which offers free push mail with LED and vibe notification. Its GUI is not too shiny but the program could be worth to give it a try.

Default tiggit alerting

FYI - tiggit mail will vibrate each time it receives a mail. It is currently hard-coded to do so.

Just looked at the LED API, and it looks straight forward, so if it is still a requirement it can easily make the next release of tiggit mail.

How can you get consilient push or any other 3rd party e-mail without BIS or BES. I have generic plan and used reqwireless but that doesnt work any more

Update - tiggit mail version 0.1.42 allows the user to configure the LED to flash red-then-green when an email has been received by tiggit mail.
