I am running OS 5.0.0.592 and have encryption disabled: Options> Security Options> Encryption> Disabled, but all of my email addresses for my contacts are listed with the above message, <Contact Protection is enabled>.

I have searched forum threads and have not been able to discover how to un-enable encryption so my contact email addresses are shown. I do have my BB password protected but other than the Security options listed in the above paragraph, I have no clue how to disable encryption so email addresses for my contact are shown in their Contact listing!

I am not a Corportate BB user, just your run-of-the-mill kinda guy.

I know there is probably and easy answer to this, but I have not found it either here in the forums search OR Google search as well.

HELP !!!

If you "Enable" encryption is the "include contacts" box set to "yes?"

I had this or a similar problem after one of my 5.0.0.x upgrades. I tried everything (enabling then disabling encryption, taking my password off altogether, etc.), but as I recall I ended up doing a selective restore of my contacts from a recent backup to fix it. It's been a while ago, so I can't remember for sure.

Pop the battery. Seriously. It fixes 9 out of 10 problems.

And 4 out of 5 dentists recommend it!

Yeah, I always try that first. Tried it a few times in an attempt to solve my <content protection> problem, but no luck. Restoring from a backup did the trick, though.
