Default 8900 asks for password to setup email?

Please Login to Remove!

Hi there,

I am trying to help out a friend. His Blackberry is on Rogers & currently is set up to receive gmail & has no problems. He needs to add another email account (POP3) & is having difficulty. I tried to help but my 8330 is different. Anyway, on his 8900 I am going to the 'home screen' & selecting the 'setup' folder with the green gear icon on it. I select 'email settings' & then a Rogers page opens & I see 2 options:

1. New Users (need to create account to begin sending/receiving email....)
2. Existing Users (login with username & password)

If I select New Users > Create A New Account I am told "an account already exists for this Blackberry device". He has no clue what this account may be & doesn't remember using it to setup his gmail so it's not like he can choose option 2 & login with a username & password.

Are we going about adding another email the the right way?

Yes you need to select "Existing User".
This is where your friend setup gmail.

If he doesnt know his username or password, call the carrier, asking for technical support, and tell them the issue.
They can setup the username and password (or reset it) so you can have access to add and manage email addresses.

Thank you for your help -- I will have him look into that. What's odd is that another friend of ours also has a 8900 on Rogers & I tried adding an email with his & it worked fine. It didn't even ask for a username or password, just like my 8330.
