Default Visual Voicemail - Does it use minutes when you retrieve messages?

Please Login to Remove!

On most providers, if you dial your voicemail, you are charged for the time that you are on the call.

As Visual Voicemail is really an Internet connection into the voicemail server of the provider, does it still use minutes when you listen to the message? Or are you only charged if you dial into your voicemail the old-fashioned way?

Thanks. How about with the Visual Voicemail application provided by Verizon Wireless, Sprint, and at&t on various handsets?

Well, to answer the question anyway... With Sprint, you are not charged minutes, however, you are charged casual data if you were foolish enough to get a visual voice mail capable phone without a data plan. The messages are technically "downloaded" to your phone, so no minute charges are spent, because you are not going over the air to retrieve them.
