No replacing it. No deleting it before you install the software. Just follow the instructions exactly as they are spelled out:
Quote:
1. Make sure you have Desktop Manager 4.2 SP2 or higher installed.
BlackBerry - Desktop Software - BlackBerry Desktop Software at BlackBerry.com
2. Download the above file to the PC then install it to the PC by running (double clicking) the OS file you downloaded.
3. Locate the vendor.xml file and delete it. It's located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader
4. Plug in BB and Open Desktop Manager. You should be prompted to upgrade.

Wirelessly posted

I'm still having Bluetooth and UMA problems with this build. When on my Jawbone and when my Curve goes from EDGE to UMA when making a phone call, I get the Call Failed on my screen. Plus the memory leak is horrible and battery life sucks. I want to try either the .85 build or the .93.

There's much more...video camera, html email, improved browser, new fonts, better wifi compatibility, UMA/Bluetooth compatibility, and much more.

Purely for knowledge's sake, I attempted to "cross-grade" between these two releases and there are no differences in any of the COD files (for English US) between the two - all are identical. Just so we can put this issue to rest on a factual basis.

I have a BIG problem with the current release. I'm around Madison, Wisconsin on T-Mobile, where they roam on a local carrier named Einstein Wireless. All I get is lowercase edge on my phone with no data access. I'm going back down to 4.22.180 until they resolve this. I need my data access around Madison.

I installed the new OS a few days ago on my T-Mobile 8320. Basically I get an hourglass every few seconds for no apparent reason and my battery lasts only a few hours on full charge due to the constant loading.

Is anyone else experiencing this problem?

4.5 is a little bit lower than 4.2. However, I've not found it to be much of an issue.

Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I searched for an answer for the last day and haven't come up with anything.

I upgraded to the Rogers 4.5.0.81 two days ago and the OS is great, but for some reason I can't get any of the messenger services to work. Yahoo, MSN, Google Talk, and AIM. They all try to connect but don't seem to be accessing the T-Mobile data network. I'm also running into the same problem with Viigo. Every time I go to check a feed, It wants to me login, and it verifies me but won't download any of the feeds Im following. Ive added the wap.voicestream.net setting in the TCP area of advanced settings and redownloaded all the apps just to be safe. There has to be something Im missing. Either that or Im a little slow and there is a post somewhere around here saying the apps arent compatible with 4.5 yet. lol. HELP!!

Oh yeah, Im using an 8320 from T-Mobile with BIS.
