Default Documents to Go Upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

Recently switched over from a HTC Snap (Windows Mobile 6) to an 8900. One thing the Windows phone had going for it was fairly comprehensive support for Office docs, specifically create from scratch.

The preloaded DTG on my BB only allows viewing and editing of existing docs - to do otherwise means an upgrade to premium for ~$70.

Does anyone know of any other pieces of software which offer the full office pack (working with .DOC, .XLS) or is DTG Premium edition the best way forward?

Also.... does anyone know if the latest DTG or any equivalent package supports the OpenXPS format which seems to be gaining popularity?

Thanks!

Wirelessly posted

What you have can work for you. You create blank "templates" on your pc, move them to your card and you're in business.

So just having a stock blank document saved to use as a "new" document and then save as something else when modified?

Yeah that could work. Thanks

Yeah, and if you set it as "Read Only" on your computer before you copy it to your BlackBerry, it won't be overwritten on your BlackBerry.

Unfortunately, DataViz takes the stance that only documents created by genuine MS Office are supported -- even Office format docs, such as those created by OpenOffice, iWorks, etc. are unsupported! How lame...

I hated to do it but got a good deal and upgraded and am happy I did. It is an app I use very often.

The idea about creating a blank template works great! Thank you.

I'm sure that will change in the future, or at least I would like to think so, since BES 5.0 now supports OpenOffice documents.
