Dang, I thought we had some techies on here too....
This is another one of those 100% placebo effects. Hiding your event log does nothing to improve performance. Like the above post explains, you can show your event log after clearing it and running a fews applications and see that they are all still recorded.

the lag on the camera could be because you are saving it to the micro sd card, I had the same problem with my BOLD, i now save it on my onboard 1gb memory and the camera shoots instantaneously, cause for me could be that my card is not one of the better quality cards. and it tends to read slower.
