Thumbs up Weatherbug for Storm

Please Login to Remove!

I normally don't use the weatherbug but the new version specific to the storm is pretty slick. I first installed the one from blackberry.weatherbug.com/download . I was able to download and install fine. But the menu option wouldn't appear to move it from the downloads folder to the home screen. So I searched and found that this new "pretty" version for the Storm.

http://blackberry.weatherbug.com/storm/storm.jad

Give it a try at least, I really like it.

Open that link from your browser on your Storm and the file will download and install.

Well, you'll have to click the download button first....

Apparently there's a paid and free ad-supported version. The beta is just plain free for now.

Maybe they're getting ready to update it again. Or doing server maintenance.

One recommendation on Weatherbug: Set a blank .mp3 or .wav as the notification sound. It seems that no matter what you have the profile set to (silent, vibrate, etc) Weatherbug will play the notification sound, at max volume, for every weather alert. It took me 20 minutes at 2AM to figure out that the loud beep coming from my BlackBerry every 5 minutes was Weatherbug letting me know it was foggy... over and over again.

I actually saw weatherbug for the storm in a youtube video and have been looking for it since. Amazing find! Thanks a lot.

Edit: In response to the post above, its interesting... I see what you're saying though. The storm's been vibrating over and over... saying that there's an "Alert". That's... a bit weird, no?

It looks like you have to turn off alerts in the preferences that's the only way to get them to stop. It looks like a bug.

Hmm, I installed it from the link above OTA and it refuses to open. Instead, it locks up my phone so that it's unresponsive and I have to do a battery pull.

I was really hoping this would work, too I miss having the weather right on my phone!
